Short Bio

Dr. Orly Barzilai is a lecturer at the Information Systems department of the School of Economics and Management, at The Academic College of Tel Aviv Yaffo (MTA).  She holds a Ph.D. degree from the Industrial Engineering and management department at the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, for a dissertation on a compensatory response to malfunctions and technical problems.

Orly has more than 20 years of experience in the field of developing industrial information systems and serves as a partner in a start-up company that develops backup software for email and data. As part of this partnership, she is signed on a backup algorithm patent approved by the US Patent Office.

Orly is a lecturer at the academia in the fields of high-level programming languages, Web programming, Data Science and Search Retrieval algorithms.

Her research topics include smart junction and Computational Thinking. The first topic focuses on smart junction algorithms for traffic load management based on physical and social and economic parameters. The innovation of the research is in the integration of disciplines from the fields of computer science on the one hand with social science on the other.  The second topic focuses on developing computational thinking skills in computer science fields among undergraduate students.
